Allen Iverson and Kyrie Irving are regarded as the two greatest ball-handlers of all time and their fans always debate about which player is better.
L-R: Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas and Kyrie Irving
Former player Gilbert Arenas is known for his controversial takes regarding former and current basketball players. However, his recent take on The Gil’s Arena podcast regarding basketball stars Allen Iverson and Kyrie Irving might stir some drama in the basketball community. Notably, Iverson and Irving are the two greatest ball-handlers of all time and their fans always debate about which player is better.
Also, both Irving and Iverson have been fan favorites of their respective generations. Despite this, Arenas had an insulting take when it came to the current Dallas Mavericks star Irving in comparison to Iverson. Arenas claimed on his show that Irving is nowhere near Iverson’s ball-handling abilities and also called him a “snail.” This well and truly did not go down well with Irving’s fans and the current basketball generation.
Kyrie [Irving] is a snail compared to f****** Allen Iverson. How many combo moves [does he have] to do to get by somebody? One move, this is all AI had to do… You couldn’t touch [AI].Gilbert Arenas said on the Gil’s Arenas Podcast
Iverson’s first-step dribble was one of his greatest assets and used to impose it on the defenders with ease. Undoubtedly, he is one of the best players of his generation, winning an MVP award and making it to the Finals. However, Irving hasn’t achieved the same level of personal achievement, but he does have a Finals win to his name.
Allen Iverson had earlier given his take on who is the best-handler, praising Mavs star Kyrie Irving
A lot of talk, controversy, and speculation is surrounding the basketball community regarding who has the best handles between these two players: Kyrie Irving and Allen Iverson. Iverson himself had cleared all the doubts and debates on the Big Podcast earlier this year, praising the Dallas Mavericks’ star man Kyrie Irving’s handles.
Hell yeah, he got the best (handles package)...Kyrie will have you beat, and then bring it back and play with it, he’s toying with people, you know what I mean? He can still just go, but if he feels like playing with you.Allen Iverson said on the Big Podcast in February 2024
Despite Irving facing recent criticism from former basketball players and experts regarding his handles, Iverson’s take surely puts an end to all the discussions surrounding him. In addition, Irving and his Mav’s side just fell short of clinching the 2024 NBA title against the Boston Celtics. They will be looking to make amends this 2024-25 NBA season.
