As many players are enjoying their off-season, the Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving is out here talking to his fans with his whole heart on his marathon livestreaming recently. Irving is known to have a funny persona on and off the court. Also, he is not someone who shies away from speaking his mind, just like his dear friend and NBA veteran Kevin Durant.
So that’s exactly what he did on his latest livestream, speaking about various topics revolving around the NBA, some that even turned heads and caught much attention from the NBA community in general. One of those topics in particular was Irving revealing the Steve Nash head coach hiring story on the Brooklyn Nets during his time there.
This is your mans. So, I got to support that this is your mans. Cool. You want him? Cool. You like Steve, I love Steve. Cool. As a younger brother, I’m like, okay, I don’t care. That’s fine. You want Steve to coach? That’s fine, but when you’re committed to the same goal and then a year changes things and then things going on behind the scenes, come on.

However, by the looks of the incidents unfolding at the livestream, it did not look as if Irving was supposed to reveal that story. That is because his agent called Irving on his live stream, stating that he was ‘revealing too much’ regarding the Nash hiring story on his live stream, sending fans into a frenzy.
Only seven games into the 2022–2023 season—Irving’s third as the team’s leader—Nash and the Nets decided to split ways. The team declined to offer Irving a max contract; thus, he was traded later that year. Durant was also traded ahead of the trade deadline as a result of his departure.
A lot of people thought the Brooklyn Nets were headed for dynasty status. However, the team did not live up to the hype, and the two (Durant and Irving) only managed to win one playoff series. Now, after Irving opened up on the Nash hiring story, this surely will have the fans, especially the Nets fans, talking about this.
Kyrie Irving made an interesting revelation during his time at the Nets
Kyrie Irving has had his fair share of controversies in the past. He was involved in much drama, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he was at the Brooklyn Nets. First, he refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine, which led to his suspension from the NBA and also from the Nets. Secondly, he was involved in a controversial matter after tweeting a link to a film titled “Hebrews to Negroes Wake Up Black America” and also chose not to speak out against antisemitism, which again led to his suspension.
Now, Irving recently revealed some interesting insights on his livestream regarding this matter back then.
I’m like, okay, look, that’s fine, but just leave me the (expletive) out of this and let me go somewhere. I even told the Nets to release me. I said, ‘yo, can you please just release me?’ And, obviously, the money situation — different situation, I’m (expletive) Kyrie. I say that very aware of my position, but they weren’t just going to let me rock out.

Despite the controversies surrounding his tenure with the team, Irving gave his best effort when he was eligible. He shot 48.9% from the field, 39.6% from three-point range, and 90.9% from the free-throw line while averaging 27.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. That said, Irving is currently with the Mavs and is enjoying his time in Dallas, far away from any controversies.
Kyrie Irving dropped the hammer on the 7-11 Nets duo on his live stream
Although Kyrie Irving may never look back on his time during the Brooklyn Nets, resulting how it unfolded, one thing is sure: he will always look back on the deadly 7-11 Brooklyn Nets duo that he had with Kevin Durant back during the COVID-19 period. Irving and Durant are brothers, on and off the court; no matter whatever arguments and misunderstandings they have, they have each other’s backs, always.
I will say this, the 7/11 duo of me and KD will never be topped in terms of just being on the court with somebody that special. So, let me get that disclaimer out. Let me get that disclaimer. I’ve played with a lot of great players, but playing with KD — that was OD. One of the best of all-time.

However, to this date, the Nets’ downfall during that period always remains a big question. Many have chosen to answer it, but the NBA community still doesn’t seem to recognize the fact that the Nets couldn’t win a single ring during that star-studded period.
In the past, Durant claimed that injuries to their main players led to the Nets’ downfall, whereas Irving claimed that the Steve Nash hiring, as well as losing key members of Nash’s coaching staff, ended up hurting them in the long run.
