La Liga 2020/2021: Atletico Madrid vs Cadiz

Atletico Madrid cruised to a 4-0 victory over Cadiz in La Liga at the Metropolitano stadium. This win propelled Atletico to the top spot in La Liga and their unbeaten streak this season goes on. Felix was the star of the show as he grabbed two goals while Suarez and Llorente grabbed a goal each. Meanwhile, Cadiz were coming into this match on a four game unbeaten run but were no match for Atleti.

First Half

Atletico started the first half strongly and grabbed the opening goal within 8 minutes. The Cadiz goalkeeper was at fault here as he was unable to grab a free kick from Koke and Felix pounced on this error to get the goal. Atleti continued to apply the pressure and got the second goal through Llorente from a brilliant near post finish past the goalie. Meanwhile, the Cadiz goalie, Jeremias had a shocker of a game as he continued to gift further chances to Atleti.

Atletico continued in the same fashion as the First half and got their third goal through Suarez. The goal yet again was possible due to the through ball from Felix who had a splendid game throughout. Meanwhile, Suarez got his fifth goal of the season in La Liga and is proving to be an excellent signing for Atleti. Felix got his fifth goal of the season and his second of the match from a counter attack with Correa supplying the assist. Moreover, Suarez and Felix are currently top scorers in La Liga.

Diego Simeone was very happy with the win and said, “I see the team well, with dynamics, enthusiasm, strength, desire to do things and see how we evolve in training. What makes me happy is that those players who had fewer minutes like [Mario] Hermoso, [Hector] Herrera or Llorente last year, today are being very important in the team. There is an improvement far beyond today’s result. We play with four midfielders who can occupy many places. I think we have a balanced squad.”
