The name that has been tagged along with the Los Angeles Lakers over the past few weeks has been Charles Barkley. That came about after he criticized the team week after week and did not stop even though Luka Doncic and LeBron James were winning games.

He always maintained that the Lakers ‘stink’. Barkley believed the team did not have what it takes to be a contender in the tough Western Conference. The 62-year-old maintained the same line of thought even after they traded for Luka Doncic.

It went to the extent where he exploded a while before their game against the New York Knicks today. He believes the Los Angeles Lakers have just had two great weeks, but that does not mean they are contenders as ESPN’s analysts have been placing them.

His rant engulfed the internet and when Inside the NBA started their half time show, he trolled ESPN analysts again. Charles Barkley believed they would be crying tomorrow after the Lakers lose against the Knicks.

It seemed that way until late into the fourth quarter when Luka Doncic and LeBron James engineered a comeback. They outscored the Knicks 23-10 in the 4th qtr to push the game into overtime. In the next few minutes, they took the lead and tried to keep it that way.

But Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson was not giving up and his scoring kept the Lakers grounded. But then, he rolled his ankle and could not continue. Then all the Los Angeles Lakers needed to do was to bring out their defensive best. They did exactly that and closed the game 113-109.

Fans unload onto Charles Barkley after Lakers win again

After the game, fans took to social media to vent their frustrations. They believe Charles Barkley should understand by now how good the Los Angeles Lakers are. On a rough shooting night, they managed to eke out a win against a solid playoff team.

If that did not show that the team is good enough to compete, then fans are unsure what the Hall of Famer is on about. They want to him ‘shut up’ as the team are playing contrary to how he believes they are. Check out examples of those comments below.

Charles Barkley did not say anything negative in his post-game analysis. Rather, he praised the Lakers for sticking to their task and winning. But that might not be enough for fans after all the negativity they have heard from him over the past few months.
