Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens Quarterback, is the latest NFL player to enter the flag football debate. The 27-year-old reminded critics and fans alike of his Boys and Girls Club days when he also engaged in flag football.
After much deliberation, The IOC agreed to introduce Flag Football as a medal event at the LA Olympics in 2028. NFL players are jumping on this train to become Olympians and win gold for their country. Patrick Mahomes is numero uno in those list of players. Tyreek Hill, Joe Burrow and the LA 2028 flag football ambassador Jalen Hurts are others on the list.
However, the current US flag football team quarterback Darrell Doucette was not impressed with this. Earlier this week, in an interview with TMZ, he admitted that he is better than Patrick Mahomes. He argued that flag football and the NFL aren’t the same.
Marshall Green, the host of KnicksNow and GiantsNow started the tweet thread. He added a video with a caption praising the flag footballers while taking a jibe at the NFL players. It was a user called JuneJune who brought the player’s attention to the tweet by tagging his X handle, @Lj_era8. Lamar Jackson then responded with a savage tweet.
Like we don’t kno how to play flag FOOTBALL all of a sudden? I did that @ the Boys & Girls club.Lamar Jackson wrote on X

Will NFL players like Lamar Jackson play at the LA 2028 Olympics?
Debates and arguments aside, can players like Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes visualise an Olympic medal? Yes, it is possible. Jeff Miller, the NFL executive Vice President told reporters that there’s talks between NFL and NFLPA to allow such a decision.
One of the biggest challenges is the timing of the Olympics. The 2028 edition would possibly take place in the middle stages of July – very close to the preseason and kickoff of the regular season. The NFL owners might not be interested in sending their players to another venture where they are prone to injuries.
Another aspect of the idea is something Darrell Doucette pointed out in his interview with TMZ. He said that NFL players aren’t the ones who helped it grow and become an Olympic sport. Therefore, adding that the glory and moreover the respect should be attributed to the ones who played for years.
