LaMelo Ball was considered to be one of the primary reasons the Charlotte Hornets managed to reach the play-in spot for the first time in five years.

The former third-overall pick has struggled with injuries the past few years, and that has had a bearing on the team’s performance. The last time the Hornets made the play-in spot was in his second season, when he played 75 games.

This past season, he played 72. That generally helps with the development of the team as a unit, and they were making some noise before exiting in the play-in stage.

In fact, Charles Barkley had them as one of his favorites to make the playoffs. Had they not struggled early on, the Round Mound of Rebound could have seen one of his predictions come true.

This was a team on the rise, and everyone felt the combination of Ball, sensational rookie Kon Knueppel, and the rest of the team was going to upset a few Eastern Conference favorites in the coming years.

All of that changed when Shams Charania announced that the Hornets had traded the 24-year-old to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Naz Reid and a bunch of pick swaps.

This brings the curtain down on his time in Charlotte, but opens the possibility of LaMelo Ball competing in the playoffs in the immediate future.

Fans love LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards joining forces

What this trade also means is that LaMelo Ball will now play alongside Anthony Edwards. The latter is already known as one of the swaggiest players in the league.

To get someone equally, or more jovial than him, on the same team would be a treat for both the eyes and ears. Fans believe press conferences will be sensational when the two of them talk.

Even team vibes are expected to be at an all-time high. Check out examples of those hilarious social media reactions below.

LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards will need a lot more than vibes to get them playing together in a Western Conference that is shifting gears every season.

Apart from his off-court shenanigans, the franchise believes Ball can help Edwards, and the duo can mesh well fast enough to ensure the Timberwolves start the season strong.

Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball teaming up causes analyst to break character

When the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade dropped, many were relieved that the drama of the past year and a half was finally over. The Julius Randle trade also drew surprised reactions, as many felt that this was the Minnesota Timberwolves admitting they were wrong to get him.

But when they eventually traded for LaMelo Ball, everyone realized the Randle trade was just a move to clear cap space. However, what this deal managed to do was force Brian Windhorst to break character.

Now, he has got a running mate in the backcourt. If you double-team Ant Edwards and you throw that ball to Lamelo Ball, he will toast your (expletive).

Brian Windhorst said on the Pat McAfee Show

The longtime writer is known to be one of the softest-spoken gentlemen around. He did not even reveal his disappointment when LeBron James trolled him on the same show.

But firing off an expletive was a surprise, even for some of Pat McAfee‘s colleagues, who can be heard in the background giving out shocked reactions. That is what this combination of the top three 2020 Draft picks has done, that is, force Brian Windhorst to break character.
