Lamine Yamal is Barcelona’s biggest asset heading into the 2024/25 season. The 17-year-old is by far one of the best players in Spain, with his performances on the pitch speaking for themselves. Recently, the Euro winner put on a show as Hansi Flick and co. finally got ‘revenge’ on Girona after consecutive 4-2 defeats last season.
FC Barcelona have Yamal to thank in part for the result, as the teenager showed his class with two first-half goals. Many were convinced that the player was on his way to secure a hat-trick untill Ferran Torres was sent off in the second half for a foul. Yamal opened his account for the night with a goal scored out of pure will and determination.
The No.19 snatched the ball from a defender before blasting it across Paulo Gazzaniga‘s goal into the upper right corner. His second goal followed seven minutes later, when he found himself at the edge of the box with an inviting rebound.
His curled shot found its way into the bottom left corner as fans cheered on from the stands. Yamal also got a chance to complete his hat-trick, although his blistering strike was punched away by the opposition keeper.

Many claimed that he mirrored the Argentine in terms of his aura on the pitch and significance to the team. Yamal scoring a brace the very next day after Messi did the same also attracted interest among fans on social media. The club kick off their UEFA Champions League campaign against AS Monaco on the 19th of September before taking on Villarreal and Getafe in La Liga.
