“Pretty funny,” Lando Norris on Helmut Marko’s comment on the qualifying session
Lando Norris
Lando Norris was preparing himself for a push lap, when Max Verstappen was trying to register his fastest time in the qualifying session. There seemed a moment of confusion as Lando Norris failed to give way, but ended up getting well out of his way.
Helmut Marko, Red Bull advisor was unimpressed with Norris’ move, and believes that it was some sort of strategy from Mercedes and McLaren to stop Max Verstappen. However, Lando Norris finds the comments pretty funny, and believes that he had done nothing wrong.
“I saw these comments, I found them pretty funny,” Norris told reporters in Portimao. “For some reason, he blamed it on Mercedes. So I got no clue what he’s talking about. Why would Mercedes have anything to do with it?,” said Norris.
“I think he was obviously a bit annoyed that a Mercedes qualified ahead of them. Any team boss isn’t going be happy with that,” he added.
My confidence at an all-time high: Lando Norris
Lando Norris believes that his confidence is at an all time high. The young Briton has finished in the top five in all three races so far, and is currently third in the championship standing. More importantly, he also secured the podium in Imola, after finishing P3.
“It’s [my confidence] definitely at an all-time high over the past three years, not just on track but in the paddock, working with the team and everything, they’re doing a very good job,” said Norris.
“Confidence in myself and confidence in the team is going well and we’re just executing everything we need to be executing at the moment. The strategy, a good start, good opening lap on my behalf, so things are going well. But they could very easily go in the wrong direction so we have to keep working and keep pushing hard,” he added.
