Lando Norris had one of the best seasons ever of his F1 career in 2023. Despite starting the season as a backmarker, he scored more points than he had in any previous years. He secured seven podium finishes and finished P6 in the championship. Despite his great success in 2023, the Englishman remains dissatisfied because of poor qualifying efforts.
Costly errors during the qualifying rounds in Qatar, Brazil, and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s were a stain in his impressive 2023 season. He expressed his immense frustration at the number of mistakes he commits on Saturdays. He went into the off-season with the primary goal of recuperating and working hard to eliminate these mistakes.
There have been various things already, both in terms of how I drive, how I work in extracting the performance, understanding these traits, and then putting them already to the test on the simulator, and trying to improve them. Sometimes it's hard to improve various things until you're actually in the car, but to the extent of what I can, even if it's mental things and trying to work on any area that I can to improve it, I would say I've done.Lando Norris said via motorsports.com.
The Englishman believes that qualifying well is more crucial than ever under the current regulations. For this reason, Norris thinks that to succeed in the upcoming season, it will be necessary to learn from past mistakes, put in more effort, and become a perfectionist. That’s the only way, in his opinion, to get consistent results.
Lando Norris anticipates a more competitive racing atmosphere in 2024
According to Lando Norris’ prediction, in 2024, multiple teams might be close to one another, and there will be a noticeable decrease in the gap between cars, of a close grid. Less than 0.5 seconds separated second place from twenty-first place in qualifying in 2023. With the same rules in place for the third season this year, racing may improve and team and driver competition may become more intense.
Yeah, I think so. With any regulation, the later you get to the regulation normally the tighter it gets. It’s normally what we see so it’s already one of the tightest years, from what I remember in terms of regulation for quite a long time. Even when it was dominated more than ever, it was the tightest from first to last for the majority of the year.Lando Norris said.
While speaking about the same he stated that, as a result, just like with any regulation, it will get tighter. The gap will likely open up at the start of the season and then likely tighten again throughout. And the same rules still apply for another year after this. He is certain that they will have some extremely competitive racing over the next few years.
