Larry Csonka lost his cool recently after once again facing the same question that has followed him for half a century. Even after all those years, the debate about whether the 1972 Miami Dolphins team was the best remains open.
That Dolphins team has a special place in the NFL history books. It was the only occasion a team went the entire season unbeaten. No other team before the 72′ ‘Dolphins won all of their matches and that record remains intact even after 52 years.
Csonka, who played as a full-back for the Dolphins, is confident that it was the greatest team of all time. The 77-year-old lost his cool recently while answering a question about the 72′ Dolphins. He was so fired up that it appeared he would run through a brick wall.
[The 1972 Dolphins weren’t] Named the greatest team? We took the goddamn thing, [that’s how it happened]. I’m tired of people telling me how they named us. They named us shit. We took it.Larry Csonka said

Even the NFL agreed with Csonka’s statement. During the league’s 100-year celebration, the 1972 Miami Dolphins beat out the 1985 Chicago Bears and the 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers to secure the Greatest NFL Team of All Time accolade.
Larry Csonka apologized for losing his cool while speaking about the 1972 Dolphins
Shortly after his rant went viral on social media, questions were being asked on why he was so agitated. Csonka provided an update through his X (Twitter) account.
I did lose my cool [here], but I stand by my point: we achieved perfection and are the only team to do so in the first 100+ years of professional football. My teammates and I already knew whether the NFL recognized it or not. That said, I am grateful the NFL finally ratified our historic achievement.Larry Csonka wrote

In 2007 the New England Patriots came close to replicating the Dolphins’ feat. Csonka’s former teammate and part of the 72′ roster Mercury Morris, claimed that the Patriots can never be compared to that Dolphins team.
Don’t call me when you’re in my town. Call me when you’re on my block.Mercury Morris said in an interview with NBC Miami
