- Caitlin Clark has consistently ignored criticism from analysts and fans throughout her career.
- Analyst Lawrencia Moten claimed the Indiana Fever performed better without Clark, sparking backlash on social media.
- Fans defended Clark, citing statistics that show the Fever's improved performance with her in the lineup.
Caitlin Clark is very good at drowning out outside noise, especially when it comes from WNBA analysts, fans, and even fellow professionals.
She has been doing that from her rookie season, when the Iowa native did not utter a word in response to anything that was said about her across various platforms. At a time when professional athletes feel the need to respond and stand their ground, the Indiana Fever superstar has shown to have exceptionally thick skin.
Others have come to her defense in the past, especially when the rhetoric was at its peak. Nowadays, there is not much to talk about, which is why the naysayers are generally quiet.
But now that she is about to start her third season in the league, one analyst tried to bring up something from the 2025 WNBA season.
The Indiana Fever played some of their best team basketball without Caitlin Clark. That’s because she is like the sun that the offense orbits around when the ball is constantly in her hands. This just made their offense extremely easy to guard. Without her in the lineup… their offense became so much more diverse.

@Lawrenciamoten also thinks the fever was tougher to guard without CC.

lol talk soon pic.twitter.com/4KCbWo7Jsi
The former college basketball player added that once Caitlin Clark was out of the lineup, the Fever’s offense became incredibly difficult to guard, as teams were not able to get a grasp of their schemes.
Fans vent at analyst for bizarre take on Caitlin Clark
This analyst used logic from the past season when the Indiana Fever nearly pulled off an amazing upset of defeating the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces.
They did it without Caitlin Clark and a few other players who were out injured. What fans pointed out was Lawrencia Moten‘s baseless logic, as that was a one-off situation where the Fever thrived because of the confusion created by those injuries.
They felt that had she looked at the statistics, it would be clear that the team is way better with Clark running the show. Fans took to social media to flame Moten, examples of which are below.
nothing like the envy of females towards another lol

Thats not true at all what made them hard to gaurd is they kept bringing in diff players so the defense couldnt really figure out how they would play if that same team started this season with out here they dont make the playoffs cause its tape on them now 🤣

Aliyah's PPG was higher with Caitlin Clark in the lineup

The Fever averaged less points & shot a worse percentage without Caitlin Clark playing
They lost 0 games to non-playoff teams with CC playing
Unfortunately if a lie is said enough in the media it becomes fact https://t.co/txjJhd3ewE
Lawrencia's Moten's offensive expertise derives from averaging 3 ppg on 33% shooting at tiny Hartford U.
— Roger Hardy 🌵🔋🏴☠️ (@Roger__Hardy) May 7, 2026
Indiana averaged 87.8 ppg in CC's 13 games in 2025 and went 8-5. In 31 games without her, they went 16-15 and averaged 83.7 ppg.
In other words, Lawrencia is an idjit.
They talk about CC the same way they talk about LeBron, they need their clicks for their idiotic statements

Not one metric supports this. THE FEVER lost so many players and were changing their team nonstop so maybe that made them harder to scout but it really has nothing to do with Caitlin…made up narrative to stir stuff up.

It’s just engagement bait. She has less than 2000 followers on Twitter and is trying to make a name for herself.
— Subby5000 (@subby5000) May 7, 2026
CC is still how people get their name recognition.

While Lawrencia Moten is not the first to find critical points against Caitlin Clark, fans believe this was Moten’s intentional rage-baiting tactic in an effort to potentially boost her brand.
Former teammate praises Caitlin Clark’s ability to ignore negativity
While fans bat for Caitlin Clark against any and every negativity, a former Fever teammate saw firsthand just how good the Hawkeye great is at avoiding such noise.

To be under 25 years old, her focus to just ignore negativity should be a study for sure.
Erica Wheeler told talkSport
The veteran has since moved on to have a resurgent season with the Seattle Storm and is now with the Los Angeles Sparks. She told the publication that she knew at the time that she was going to lose her starting spot to the incoming rookie.
But Erica Wheeler accepted it, as she was aware of the game-changer she was going to have as a teammate. The 35-year-old still holds Caitlin Clark in that regard and knows she will continue to block out the noise to keep her focus on the greater goal.
