Karl-Anthony Towns and Draymond Green

On Saturday, the Golden State Warriors defeated the New York Knicks 94-97 on the road. Since the trade deadline, the Golden State has continued to dominate rivals in the Jimmy Butler era. That matchup turned out to be between two other players: Karl-Anthony Towns and Draymond Green, who had made some heated comments in recent weeks.

The game was a closely contested match, with both sides going toe-to-toe till the end of the fourth quarter. Green and KAT were going at each other throughout the game. This was due to Green’s comments regarding the passing of KAT’s family friend over the past week. By the looks of it, the comments did not sit well with KAT.

KAT and Green kept going back and forth, with audio leaks revealing that the two were violently sniping at one another. It all started with Draymond Green saying, “He’s soft… soft a** n****.” To which Karl-Anthony Towns responded, F*ck out of here, hoe a** n****.” After KAT picked up his third foul, Draymond Green said, “That’s three, take him out.” KAT once again responded, “Shut your b*tch a** up… you a hoe.”

In addition, Towns had an excellent game, scoring 29 points (12-31 FG) and grabbing 12 rebounds. Green had just nine points, four rebounds, and three assists, but he helped the Warriors win. The veteran was crucial for his side and saved the day with 4 straight points late in the fourth quarter. Green’s points, along with a few Stephen Curry free throws, helped the Warriors take the lead against the Knicks.

The former DPOY continues to get under Towns’s skin, especially since the two are unlikely to face off again this season until they meet in the NBA Finals. That appears doubtful from both sides, but there is no doubt that the two frontcourt players are very competitive.

Draymond Green had kind words for Karl Anthony-Towns despite on-court rivalry

Draymond Green and Karl-Anthony Towns faced off for the first time on Saturday night, following the former’s recent comments regarding a family friend. As a result, there was some tension at Chase Center, and the two men even got into it at points during the game. Despite this, Green surprised everyone by praising KAT postgame.

It was good to see KAT show up and play like that. He played hard, played well. He was physical. Probably the most physical I’ve ever seen him. Had a little extra motivation, so that made the game really fun. That was great.

Draymond Green said after the game

Green has only himself to blame for Towns’s increased motivation. The four-time champion made that incorrect assertion after the big man missed the Golden State Warriors’ last game against the New York Knicks on March 4. Moreover, he was not interested in apologizing to KAT.

Towns was obviously up for the battle, but Green would have the last laugh. In the final minute, he made a knife-edge layup over Towns and celebrated with the “night-night” chant.

Karl-Anthony Towns kept it ‘real’ after an on-court spat with Draymond Green

After Draymond Green and Karl-Anthony Towns got at it on the court, everyone got a bit curious to know about their spat. In the middle of the game, Towns was interviewed by ESPN reporter Lisa Salters, who asked him about receiving extra motivation “when someone says something about you that you don’t like.” Towns, 29, responded quickly and bluntly.

Nah, I’m keeping it about the New York Knicks. It’s not about anything off the court. It’s about the Knicks.

Karl-Anthony Towns told ESPN

However, the game did not end in KAT’s favor, with Green stepping up at the Chase Center for his side. With the recent win, the Warriors are now 39-28 in the West and 6th in the table. They are looking to secure an NBA Playoff spot before the end of the regular season.
