Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson and New Orleans Pelicans star CJ McCollum get into a trash talk battle

When the New Orleans Pelicans met the Golden State Warriors on the 12th of this month, the stakes were high. With high stakes comes an extreme level of competitiveness. A combination of the two results in some heated battles. As such, new leaked audio reveals the brutal trash talk between Klay Thompson and CJ McCollum in between some of those heated battles.

When Andrew Wiggins tried to do some post moves inside the paint, New Orleans Pelicans star guard CJ McCollum was there to strip the ball off. A few moments later he forced a turnover by the Golden State Warriors to regain possession. Both times he was talking trash to the Warriors. But after the second incident, Klay Thompson retaliated:

I’ve been busting your a** for years. For 10 motherf***ing years.

Klay Thompson wanted to give McCollum a taste of his own medicine after the former 1st round pick was constantly trying to talk trash.

CJ McCollum has been playing in the NBA for 11 seasons, solely in the Western Conference. Therefore, all those years he has had to go up against the Golden State Warriors. And in those years, the Warriors were the hindrance to McCollum and his then Portland Trail Blazers team’s playoff runs.

Now as the battle in this game would go on to determine the final playoff spots, McCollum wanted to give the Warriors a stern send-off. And he did win the game, sending the Warriors to the 10th spot in the West.

Klay Thompson could return the favor to CJ McCollum in the play-in-game

Had the Warriors won the game, they would have finished 8th. But now, the tables have turned to a possible rematch. The New Orleans Pelicans ended up in 7th place and will face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first play in game. The loss to the Lakers in the last game was the reason the Pelicans ended up in the play-in spots.

If the results repeat, and the Golden State Warriors win their first play in game, Klay Thompson and co. will be there to meet CJ McCollum again. This time however, it will be a do or die play in game. A scenario in which the Warriors thrive.

Chances are that CJ McCollum will be on the receiving end of some trash talk from the Warriors. Add to that a season-ending loss, and it will be history repeating all over again for the superstar guard.
