Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a statement win over the defending champions, the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of their Western Conference semi-final game. However, it was his intense exchange where he trash-talked the crowd and the Nuggets’ players that generated the most engagement on social media.

In what has now become a viral video, X (formerly known as Twitter) user, @legendz_nba transcribed what was said.

Let’s f**king go! Get their a** out of here. Go home! Go home!
Anthony Edwards said as transcribed by the user on X

However, it wasn’t the only moment that has taken over social media. Jamal Murray’s throwing of a heat pack onto the court has also generated some buzz among netizens, with Murray most likely to face some form of a disciplinary case from the league authorities.

The game was characterized by the T-Wolves’ explosive offense led by Anthony Edwards and coupled with their brilliant defensive contribution, which crushed the Nuggets on their turf. Even Nuggets Head coach Michael Malone admitted that his team got embarrassed in front of their fans.

Anthony Edwards wants the Michael Jordan comparison to stop

Anthony Edwards, in a recent interview with Fox Sports, cleared that he is tired of being compared to basketball legend Michael Jordan. Although he is focused on being the best, the 2020 No. 1 NBA Draft wants to win with his teammates instead of trying to match up the hype that comes with being compared to His Airness.

I want it to stop. He's the greatest of all time. I can't be compared to him. I don't really care. Whoever they make the face of the league — they don't pick me or if they pick me — it doesn't really bother me. I'm just trying to win with my teammates. I don't really care about being the face of the league. If my team could be the face of the league, that would be great.
Anthony Edwards said to Fox Sports

However, with his strong outings in the 2024 Playoffs where he led the Wolves to a clean sweep of the Phoenix Suns and now attempting to do the same with the defending champions, the similarities with MJ can’t be overlooked. Furthermore, Edwards’ determination to forge his path and create a name for himself has shown the humble side of his game behind all the arrogance.

Edwards already has averaged 32.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 6 games in the 2024 playoffs and is quickly becoming a fan favorite and a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
