“This f**king guy…” LeBron James called out for complaining about ‘free throws’ by JJ Redick
The Los Angeles Lakers have had the most free throw attempts of any team in the league in the past two seasons.
JJ Redick calls out his podcast partner LeBron James after complaining about lack of free throws for the Los Angeles Lakers
For LeBron James, exiting the playoffs early was not something he liked. Even more so for a team that has consistently defeated them over the course of a year.
After any loss, it is normal for the losing side to talk about certain discrepancies that they thought went against them. The all-time leading scorer thought that the physicality went against them. However, interestingly enough, J.J. Redick thought otherwise.
In the latest episode of Mind the Game Pod, the four-time champion was talking about how physical play ramps up during the playoffs. To the extent that it starts to wear the opponent down. He suggested that instead, the Denver Nuggets were getting free throw calls from regular physical play.
Says the guy whose team had the greatest free throw disparity in the NBA in the last 2 seasons. This f**king guy.To this his podcast partner JJ Redick replied
LeBron James replied with a cuss word but laughed it off. Naturally, he knew Redick was telling the truth.
JJ Redick‘s logic comes from the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers have had arguably the most trips to the free-throw line in the past two seasons. In the 2022–23 season, they attempted a league-leading 2182 attempts. This year, that number is 1983, placing them No. 2 on the list.
Therefore, the numbers place them at the top. Something that has been called out numerous times by multiple teams.
No wonder Redick had to put his podcast partner in his place after complaining about free throws. When actually the Los Angeles Lakers have been the most to benefit from it.
LeBron James won’t play basketball for 2 months
In another part of this discussion, JJ Redick asked LeBron James how he approaches the off-season after playing for so long.
For me, probably like the last 4 to 5 years, I've kinda after the season trying to get my body at least 2 months of like no basketball. I'm still doing the yogas and pillates and walking around, still being active. I've tried to give my body like 2 months. I don't want to be on the basketball court, at all.The all-time leading scorer replied
This goes to show that as he has aged, he has had to give more rest to his body. Crucial if he wants to play for a few more years.
LeBron James has always kept his fitness his priority over a season. But as he enters season no. 22, he will have to give his body some rest before attacking next season. That is if he wants to be fresh for the playoffs next year.
This year, however, has one small problem. Training camp for the Olympics starts in a month’s time. This means the now-39-year-old will have to balance rest and basketball, keeping the next NBA season in mind.
