Everybody in the NBA and beyond knows LeBron James as the ultimate family man. However not many know the backstory of him becoming who he was with his wife Savannah James. In the latest chat with Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce, the NBA MVP touched upon the same.

On Wednesday’s installation of the New Heights podcast, LeBron James shed some light on what has worked out for him this far. One thing the NBA star knew was to not be a ‘shit show’ that would affect people around him for the worse.

Turning the conversation to managing expectations off the court, LeBron James opened up about his days as a new father. He recalled having no male influence in his life growing up, which put him under pressure to do better. People’s underestimation and hopes for his failure were motivation all the more for him to show up.

When I started to start my family that was another part of it. I knew [his wife] Savannah was the one and I started having kids and I was like, ‘I didn’t have that male influence. My dad wasn’t around.’ I was, ‘OK I can’t f–k that up.’

LeBron James has always publicly admired his wife Savannah James and credited her for who he is today. Previously, he called her the ‘real MVP’ for managing everything on her own when he was just starting. Other than that he has also been very transparent about not having a relationship with his biological father. He was raised by his mother Gloria Marie James, in Akron, Ohio.

Being raised by a single parent was also a guiding factor for LeBron James in raising his children the right way. Formidably, the Lakers star now plays alongside his eldest Bronny James on the court of Los Angeles. The NBA star and Savannah James share three children, Bronny, Bryce Maximus, and Zhuri Nova.

LeBron James’ family is to thank for longevity in the NBA

LeBron James has long received his legendary status, not just with his scoreboard, but also with his zeal to be in the NBA. The Lakers star recently turned 40 but age has nothing to do with his game on the court as that remains firm. In a recent interview, he had his family to thank for that quality.
