“Greatest Athlete of All Time!” LeBron James gets ultimate praise from WWE legend Ric Flair
LeBron James was voted to lead the USA Olympics contingent at the Paris Olympics.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James gets ultimate praise from WWE legend Ric Flair after becoming Olympics flag-bearer for USA
In a little more than two decades in the NBA, LeBron James has made his name as one of the greatest to have played the game. But his prowess as an athlete is even more dumbfounding when one hears stories of his time playing football while in high school. There are reasons why the Los Angeles Lakers superstar dominated the pre-Olympics friendlies even as he approaches age 40. Those reasons have led WWE legend Ric Flair to give some high praise.
The wrestling legend just watched James lead Team USA to back-to-back wins in pre-Olympics friendlies. Armed with all that knowledge, the 16-time WWE champion wrote this on his official X account:
There’s always the debate about who’s The Greatest Athlete of All Time. It’s LeBron James in my mind. And obviously in the mind of Stephen Curry, who nominated LeBron James to carry the flag for the US Olympic Team. First American male basketball player to do It! FYI- He could have been the best Tight End in the history of the NFL! The stats speak for themselves.Ric Flair on X
Ric Flair also brought up why Stephen Curry nominated James to be the flag bearer at the Paris Olympics. The recognition fits the narrative that he is the greatest American athlete of all time.
He brought up James’ high school football statistics to show that had he played in the NFL, he could have been the greatest tight end of all time. Several athletes have been good at multiple sports, but to be historically great is rare.
Flair of all people has seen several decades worth of American athletes perform at the highest level. Therefore, knowing all and having seen it all, it comes as no surprise that he added that label to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.
Germany head coach adds the praise for LeBron James
Ric Flair is not alone in his glaring view of LeBron James. After Team USA beat Germany in their final pre-Olympics friendly, their head coach, Gordon Herbert, had this to say as to why they lost their game:
First quarter they had us back on our heels. I thought we regrouped some in the 2nd quarter. I thought the 3rd quarter we played our best basketball, we played with good tempo. And somebody named LeBron James made some pretty good plays at the end.Gordon Herbert after Germany lost to the USA
Suggesting that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar alone handed them the loss. That is even though Germany had the momentum heading into the fourth quarter.
James did take over as he scored 11 points in the final 4 minutes of the game. That was more than what the Germans managed to score during the same stretch as a team. It goes to show that even at age 39, the all-time leading scorer in NBA history can do it all.
As the clock winds down on the 4-time NBA Champion, he is showing no signs of slowing down. But he also knows his time is coming up. That said, even in these last few moments, he has not taken a step back and performed his duties to the best of his abilities.
