“Delete this Kendrick Perkins a** video” – LeBron James showing off ‘handles’ gets compared to VIRAL meme

Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James showing off handles in Team USA Olympics preparation gets compared to viral meme involving Kendrick Perkins

LeBron James is nearing 40. But that age has not stopped the 4-time champion from playing at an All-NBA level this season. That elite level will be needed as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar and his fellow Team USA players head to Paris to win gold at the Olympics. However, during preparations, James showed off his basketball dribbling skills. But the internet as it is, instantly linked it to a viral meme that has been floating around for sometime.

The routine is a part of the basic ball dribbling exercise basketball players practice just to get a feel for the ball. In this case, the FIBA ball is different from the one used in the NBA. Therefore, before Team USA scrimmage started, LeBron James went through the motions. Dribbling left to right and between his legs as the camera crew captured the actions. However, this reminded netizens of a similar practice done by Kendrick Perkins. But that video ended up becoming a meme.

Perkins is of the same age and has retired from the game. Therefore, LeBron James attempting the same routine as Perkins seemed as if it was an easy drill which should not be practiced by a superstar who is supposed to be the best of the best.

LeBron James should be attempting even harder routines with the Olympics around the corner. Not the ones that an out-of-shape Kendrick Perkins could also do in his backyard. The fan-posted video has brought out the choicest of replies from fans.

Netizens found the LeBron James Kendrick Perkins comparison amusing

Had it been any other superstar, it would not have bothered fans. Literally, the entire Team USA lineup practiced this routine before starting scrimmage. But since it is The King himself, they could not hold themselves back from having some fun. Adding Kendrick Perkins to the mix looked like an insult to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar for some. While some took shots at the 4-time Finals MVP.

Comments of these variants filled social media as soon as the comparison video was shared. Check out some of those comments below:

It is a regular basketball dribbling drill. Something every basketball player has to practice to improve their hand coordination. But when it comes to LeBron James, fans it seems do not care. They want him to try harder drills and then take videos of that to post online.
