Legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas makes his return to Real Madrid in an executive role


Ex-Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas turned accepted a job with Real Madrid Foundation where he was made Assistant to General Director of the Real Madrid Foundation. He is one of the most prominent ‘keepers of Real Madrid and is a highly decorated player too with the 19 titles he has won over in his 25 years of playing for Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid Foundation carried out football-related actions, such as recently funding internships for young players in China and organizing workshops on sports psychology. The decorated former Real Madrid goalkeeper has won 3 Champions League with the club along with 5 La Liga trophies. Now he returns home to where it all began for him and will aim to fund eligible young players like him.
Iker Casillas made it through the youth ranks of Real Madrid and joined the senior team in 1999 and played till 2015. His new job with the Real Madrid Foundation is expected to be the same as such and fund youth players. This would be done in order to fund prospective players and select from the talented of the bunch. Players like Steven Gerrard, Iker Casillas and Lionel Messi have all made it from the youth ranks of their clubs to become legends of their club and the game.
Real Madrid and its manager Zinedine Zidane both congratulated Iker Casillas on his new appointment with the club. Iker Casillas left Real Madrid and joined Portuguese side Porto where he retired in May 2019 after suffering a heart attack.
