Former NFL star Le’Veon Bell has been engaged in a lawsuit defending r*pe allegations from his cousin Jada Bell. In a recent update, the jury passed a default judgment in favour of the latter. The NFL star finally stepped up to give a public statement.

Per the jury’s verdict back in October 2024, Le’Veon Bell is expected to pay the victim a sum of $25 million with an additional $11 million from his brother La’Vonte Bell. The judgment was passed as a consequence of their failure to respond to the case. However, Le’Veon Bell’s attorney has shunned the ruling, calling it fraudulent while speaking to TMZ.

The default judgment granted was based upon violations of his Fifth Amendment rights of due process for failing to be served. My client is in the process of filing a motion to open and reverse the default judgment because the narratives of the case have never been litigated.

Le’Veon Bell’s attorney stated

The lawsuit was primarily filed in Ohio, March 2024, accusing the Bell brothers of coercing s*xual activity with their family member, Jada Bell. Plaintiff suggests that the accused, 8 years older than her, misdirected her into nonconsensual, incestuous acts using “slang terms”. Analyzing the timeline of the abuse, it allegedly started when Jada was only six or seven years old, continuing through 2017.

Per reports, Jada allegedly faced the abuse through her college years after becoming “habitual”. Le’Veon Bell is prepared to fight the allegations, arguing that he was not appropriately served. Bell earned over $45 million in NFL contracts during his eight-year career. After retiring, he turned to professional boxing with recent suggestions from the athlete to return to the NFL.

While Le’Veon Bell has been silent on the year-long lawsuit, he has come forth to suggest the forces behind the allegations. The former NFL star made an ambiguous tweet after the recent ruling imposing a financial penalty on the Bell brothers. Bell alleged that the lawsuit was an “attack” on him.

Le’Veon Bell took to X to imply that it was his race and political stance that he was being targeted. He expressed uncertainty over the reasoning. Notably, he has openly been a Donald Trump supporter, with involvement in his rallies as well.

However, Le’Veon Bell wrote that it did not faze him and he aimed to move forward. The NFL athlete has also denied all the allegations, claiming he was never served a civil complaint.
