Lil Wayne defends Rudy Gobert from critics and goes off on Nikola Jokic's playing style

One analogy was a constant between the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves after the fifth game. The playoff battle saw Nikola Jokic put 4-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert in his place and showed how good he is. However, rapper Lil Wayne has a different opinion.

The Grammy award-winning artist knows that everyone associated with basketball has trolled Gobert for getting dominated on the court. However, Wayne came to the defense of Gobert and believed the DPOY did not slack off. He also believed the French player tried his hardest in the game.

I don't like Jokic. I don't like his game. He just look like the dad of the YMC player. I just want to shout out my man Rudy Gobert. Rudy Gobert gets so much flak, all the man looks he doing, to me, is trying his f*cking hardest. The man just had his 1st f*cking child. We are all men that get on television and talk about this. Your little defense against Jokic, that don't matter. The man just had a child. That's what matters. Shout out to Rudy Gobert.

Wayne was livid as most analysts gave Rudy Gobert flak for not turning up for game 2 due to the birth of his child. He believes nothing is more important than that.

Since returning to the starting lineup, the Minnesota Timberwolves star has been torched by Nikola Jokic. Analysts and fans have questioned his Defensive Player of the Year credentials after the way his fellow European star showed out.

It might have worked against him that the Denver Nuggets were on a mission to salvage their series. Therefore, they went all out. As opposed to the Timberwolves, who collectively slacked. It remains to be seen if the Timberwolves bounce back in game 6.

Rudy Gobert needs to put the clamps on Nikola Jokic if the Timberwolves are to advance

The Minnesota Timberwolves need to return to the all-around effort they put up in the first two games. In the following three games, the Denver Nuggets reverted to their championship-winning gameplay by starting everything through their two Bigs – Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon. Gordon can be taken care of, but it is Jokic that needs more of their concentration.

To do that, Rudy Gobert has to return to his All-Defensive prowess. He must shut down or at least limit Jokic one-on-one. That requires a different level of focus and film study. Otherwise, the 3-time MVP will continue to dictate play and allow his teammates to wear down the rest of the Timberwolves players.

The series will resume on Thursday with the Minnesota Timberwolves in a do-or-die situation. If Jokic again reigns supreme, Lil Wayne might not be there to support Rudy Gobert anymore.
