Linda Noskova had arrived at Wimbledon as one of the most dangerous young talents yet to make a huge breakthrough on tour. Despite winning WTA 500 and 250 titles, she had yet to lift a 1000-level title or make an excellent Grand Slam run. But she has finally made her mark at the All England Club, reaching her maiden major tournament final.

Noskova had won the Berlin Tennis Open despite facing most of the top 5 players on the WTA circuit. She defeated Jessica Pegula in the final of the tournament to open her grass-court swing. She continued with the momentum at Wimbledon, beating Elise Mertens and Madison Keys en route to the semi-finals.

She faced Marta Kostyuk for a place in the final on Thursday (July 9), which was their second meeting this season. Kostyuk had won the first matchup in April, beating the Czech Republic star en route to her championship win. At the Center Court, Noskova delivered her most composed performance of the event.

The 21-year-old waited for Kostyuk to make mistakes in the match, which happened in the final game of the opening set. The Ukrainian star hit an unforced error, which led her to drop her serve, and Noskova eventually won the set. The same incident occurred in the second set, and the ninth seed won the match 6-4, 6-4.

Noskova will face Karolina Muchova in the final on Saturday (July 11), which is an all-Czech affair. The duo was partners at the Paris Olympics doubles two years ago. After the win against Kostyuk, Noskova admitted that she doesn’t know how to process what it means to reach a major tournament final:

I don’t really know how I feel. It was a great match, and I managed to stay calm the whole time, which was my main goal. I’m satisfied […] Then I couldn’t believe it. You always want to experience moments like this and win such important matches, but when it actually happens, you don’t really know how to react. I always process my successes when it’s all over. Right now, I feel like I’m already focused on the final.

Noskova first made her mark on tour at the 2024 Australian Open, where she reached the quarter-finals. Last year, she got to the final of the China Open and would have won the title if not for some errors in the latter period of the third set, which saw her lose to Amanda Anisimova. She will be looking forward to putting that experience to use when she faces Muchova in the final.

Linda Noskova says reaching the Wimbledon final is a special moment for her

Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova, playing in the women’s singles Wimbledon final, guarantee that a Czech Republic star will win the championship for the third time in four years. Barbora Krejcikova won the title in 2024 after beating Jasmine Paolini, while Marketa Vondrousova claimed the trophy in 2023.

Noskova has watched her fellow countrywomen win Wimbledon but has not been to the final until this year’s edition. She has played on the Center Court just once at the 2026 Championships and will play there again in the final. During the aforementioned press conference, she admitted that reaching the final is a special moment for her:

As a child, I treated all tournaments the same; I didn’t even know how difficult it was to get here. If I had known how complicated it is, but also how wonderful it is, I would have done it all again. Today was the first time I set foot on Centre Court; I hadn’t even been there as a spectator before. It was a very special moment, although I haven’t fully processed it yet.

Muchova leads Noskova 1-0 in their head-to-head record, and their only meeting came at the US Open last year. This will be their second clash on tour, and Muchova is the favorite to win the title. However, Noskova would like to be the underdog against Muchova, which will make her feel less pressure in the final.
