The tournament is characterized by the batsmen taking apart the bowling line-ups. Big shots and the bowlers getting smashed around the park have been the hallmark of the tournament, as it is with T20 cricket in general. And so half centuries are a regular feature in the format given the fast-forward nature of it.

AB de Villiers had been one of the most consistent players in the history of the IPL. He played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and almost every time, he displayed his 360 degree game.

De Villiers has hit a total of 40 fifties in his IPL career and amassed 5,162 from 170 innings.

4. Rohit Sharma (41 Half Centuries)

IPL’s most decorated captain Rohit Sharma joins the list at number four. The prolific opener has been Mumbai Indians‘ batting mainstay for quite some years now. While his prowess with the bat is well known, Rohit has displayed exceptional leadership skills having led the franchise to five IPL titles.

Sharma has smashed 41 half-centuries along with a ton in his 237 IPL games. The Mumbai opener has amassed 6,063 runs in the cash-rich league so far.

3. Shikhar Dhawan (50 Half Centuries)

Topping the list and way ahead of the rest is Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan. The left-handed batsman is another player who has been the hallmark of consistency in the IPL as an opener. Dhawan continues to go strong and is expected to only pull away from the rest.

Dhawan has hit a total of 50 half-centuries in his IPL career en route to 6,593 runs in the cash-rich league.

The second entrant on the list is former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and former Indian team captain Virat Kohli. Playing for RCB right from the very beginning, Kohli has been the face of the side. Even amidst the team’s struggle to win an IPL trophy that keeps continuing, the reliable batter has kept putting up consistent performances.

Kohli has smashed 50 half-centuries on his way to becoming the highest run-getter in the history of the league. The former RCB skipper has a whopping 7,043 runs to his name in the league.

The first Aussie in the top 5, Delhi Capitals captain David Warner is without a doubt one of the greatest performers in the history of the tournament. The swashbuckling Australian has been crucial for DC in providing blazing starts and he has been one of the most reliable batters for the side.

Warner has hammered 59 fifties in the league already and is the third-highest all-time run-getter in the league. The Aussie opener has 6,211 runs to his name in the league and is renowned for leading the Capitals by example.
