Manchester City has been the undisputed Premier League champion on the bounce for the last four years. Despite close challenges, Pep Guardiola and company have managed to navigate the cross currents and eventually land the silverware at the end of the season consistently since the 2020-21 season.

It was way back in 2019-20 season that Liverpool claimed the title for themselves under the chaperonage of Jurgen Klopp. The most obvious question that has been asked time and again is what exactly is the key that would unlock the secret mantra to win the Premier League. Former Liverpool Head of Research, Ian Graham had a very simple answer to the question which left the world in utter splits.

Graham also emphasized on the time and the effort that it takes to constitute to the championship mindset. While underscoring the importance of investing in a squad that does have the potential of winning the title, Graham highlighted that it is a process that takes several years. He also revealed that Liverpool has done it before and Arsenal has been doing it off late which raises their chances of clinching the Premier League a lot more than there was before.

A glance at how Liverpool and Manchester City have duked it in the Premier League of late

Despite a close toss-up with Arsenal, Manchester City managed to clinch the throne, leapfrogging the Gunners by two points in the end as they finished with 91. With 28 wins and seven draws, the Cityzens were almost inexorable throughout the league while Arsenal who were their closest pursuer finished with 89 on the back of 28 wins and five draws.

Liverpool finished third, seven points adrift of Arsenal which was also their last season under their German preceptor, Jurgen Klopp. In the 2021-22 season, they looked in fine touch and were the serious contenders for the throne only to let it slip by a solitary point as City became the champions.

However, the best came in 2019-20, where Liverpool ran away with the title by a monumental margin, landing 99 points on the back of 32 wins and three draws and a staggering 18-point-difference from their closest contender, Manchester City.
