Liverpool presented with opportunity to sign Eder Militao on loan as player looks to leave Real Madrid to get more game time
Much like Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid, 22 year old Eder Militao will get another world class defender in the name of Virgil van Dijk as a mentor which will definitely aid his development

Reports arose that Real Madrid was ready to offer Eder Militao on loan to other clubs in this January transfer window. He hasn’t been able to find a place in Zinedine Zidane’s side for a long period of time and is reported to wanting to leave to get more game time. Liverpool need a centre-back now more than ever as all three of their senior centre-backs are injured and are playing with one makeshift defender and two other young and inexperienced centre-backs.

Hasn’t played much this season at all this season under Zinedine Zidane

Eder Militao hasn’t played for Real Madrid much of this season as he has made only two appearances for the Galacticos in La Liga and one appearance in the Champions League. For a player who is that young and was getting a starting role with Portuguese giants Porto, that is not a good thing. He showed tremendous potential with Porto and was one of the most exciting youth prospects in the 2018/19 Champions League.

Currently Liverpool have their valued defensive midfielder Fabinho at the heart of their defence without a partner as the only remaining centre-back Joel Matip is injury-prone. Liverpool simply cannot mount a title defence without even one actual and experienced centre-backs playing. The Reds have been more prone to attacks and goals now that they don’t have the rock i.e. Fabinho at his natural role. Having to use captain Jordan Henderson as centre-back isn’t a viable option as they will be vulnerable at the center of the pitch.

Eder Militao is available for a fee of £3.6 million on loan and even if Real Madrid insert a clause for buy obligation, Liverpool cannot be hurt much as the 22 year old defender will be partnered with Virgil van DIjk as a mentor. This deal makes a lot of sense as no player will be available at such short notice for this much amount of money. This also eases Liverpool’s need for a centre-back as in the case that Joel Matip can stay fit for a long period of time, Militao and Matip can be Liverpool’s centre-back pairing while Fabinho could go back to being a defensive midfielder.
