Despite the 2-6 season record, the New York Giants are still not convinced to bench quarterback Daniel Jones. They are continuing with him in Week 9 against the Washington Commanders. Except for the Giants, the entire league is nearly unanimous in believing that Jones lacks the potential to lead a successful season.

The Giants are coming for their third consecutive loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which could have resulted in their favor if only Jones hadn’t made the costly interception that sealed the game for their opponents. Shortly after the Monday Night Football game, head coach Brian Daboll announced that the team is again starting with Jones in Week 9.

While talking on the subject of whether Jones has the starting quarterback potential, former Super Bowl champion Logan Ryan expressed his unfiltered thoughts, believing Jones’ time in New York will come to an end following this 2024 season.

Unfortunately for Daniel Jones, I think his time in New York is over after this season. I think they tried to give him as many chances they can, tried put talent around him, tried to build an offensive line that hasn’t worked… I wanna see Daniel Jones let it loose.

Logan Ryan said

Though Ryan also appreciated Jones for his efficiency, the quarterback lacked the ability to make impactful plays for his team to win. The Giants’ offense is already compromised with the departure of Saquon Barkley, and with Jones’ current performance, the team may consider trading him as part of a rebuilding strategy.

While the former New York defensive end highlighted the shortcomings of the signal-caller, he also acknowledged the positive aspects of Jones. He shared that Jones’ teammates including himself love during the week as he is dedicated and hard-working.

Being around Daniel Jones as a former teammate, you love him during the week. He’s one of the hardest working [players] in the locker room. He takes the blame when things go well but you wanna see his best ball in the fourth quarter.

Ryan further advised his former teammate to take chances with the ball, “throw the ball downfield, and see what happens.” Contrary to popular opinion, head coach Daboll is not ready to give up on Jones yet and is satisfied to continue the rest of the season with him.
