“I would’ve traded myself!” Lonzo Ball hilariously recaps Anthony Davis trade to Lakers

Lonzo Ball and Anthony Davis

Lonzo Ball was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017 but was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019 as part of a package for Anthony Davis. Despite the trade, Ball revealed on The WAE Show that he wasn’t offended, understanding that it’s a business move and even joked that he would have traded himself for Davis.

The trade ended up being a success for the Lakers, as Anthony Davis helped them win the championship in 2020 and has re-established himself as one of the premier big men in the league. Davis was excellent for the Lakers this past season, as he averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game, and made the All-NBA Second Team and the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

That’s the first time that I realized this is definitely a business. But at the same time, it was like it’s Anthony Davis... A part of me was like I mean, to be fair, I would have traded myself for Anthony Davis.

On the other hand, the Pelicans didn’t get much value from the players and draft picks they received in the trade. None of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, or Josh Hart turned into superstars, and the draft picks didn’t amount to much either.

In the end, the trade looks like a clear win for the Lakers, while the Pelicans are left with little to show for it. However, if the Pelicans can manage to land a star with the last of the three picks, which has been deferred to 2025, then they might be able to salvage something from the trade.

This trade will also see them go up in the favorites choice to win the championship as per best ideal casino and we will get to know if it was a good one only after some time.

Lonzo Ball reveals what he learned from LeBron James

Lonzo Ball also on his own podcast, The WAE Show, shared his experiences playing alongside LeBron James during the 2018-19 NBA season. Ball praised James as one of the smartest basketball minds he’s ever played with, as he cited his exceptional film-watching skills and attention to detail.

I would say that Bron and Rondo are probably if not the two smartest basketball minds I've been a part of. I would say the way Bron watches film, very interesting. Breaks it down to a 'T'. Somebody's shoes are untied on the free throw line type. I was never around someone that watches film that strategically until that point.

According to Ball, James would break down game footage to the smallest details, even noticing things like an opponent’s untied shoelaces on the free throw line. This experience taught Ball the importance of meticulous preparation and analysis in the game of basketball.

Ball’s time with James had a lasting impact on his understanding of the game, and he credits James as one of the smartest basketball minds he’s ever encountered. As Ball looks to return to the court after a two-season absence, fans will be eager to see how he applies the lessons he learned from James to his own game.
