Former major champion Lucas Glover is not interested in playing again with LIV Golfers. Amid the merger talks between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the 2009 U.S. Open winner sounded off on the idea of possibly playing again with those who left the tour.

The world of golf was divided in 2021 with the official formation of LIV Golf. Several big names from the PGA Tour would later jump ships to play on the PIF-backed league.

Since its first tournament in 2022, things have been chirpy between the two professional tours. Several golfers from both ends have exchanged jabs, taken digs, and called out each other while defending their leagues.

In June 2023, the golfing world received another shock as Jay Monahan, Commissioner of the PGA Tour, along with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of the PIF, came together to announce a merger deal. Ever since that day, the two bodies have continued to discuss and try to find ways to merge into one entity.

One major aspect of the merger is the reunification of the game and having all golfers play under one roof. At the moment, the only PGA Tour-sanctioned events the LIV Golfers compete in are the 4 major championships.

While the talks have stalled in recent months, Glover was asked about the prospect of seeing LIV Golfers return to the tour if the merger goes through. The 6-time PGA Tour winner did not hold back and blasted the idea of welcoming them back on the circuit.

While speaking on the SiriusXM PGA Tour radio, the veteran golfer claimed that he does not want them (LIV Golfers) back as they already made their decision.

I don’t want to play with them, me personally. I don’t think they should be back here. I don’t want them here. They made their decision. I don’t blame any of them. They made a decision, I don’t care, but they also went away from this tour and chose to.

Though Glover does not like the idea of having those who left the tour back, he did admit that having some of the top names from LIV Golf could boost the PGA Tour’s ratings. Stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm have been the ones whom many fans want to see return to the tour and compete week in and out.

As for Glover, he would participate in the John Deere Classic on Thursday. In the first round, the 45-year-old carded a score of 1-over 72 with 4 birdies and 5 bogeys. At the end of the day’s play, he was T113th. He would need a bit better performance than this in Round 2 to make the cut and extend his stay at the TPC Deere Run this week.

Tiger Woods’ ex-coach reacts at Lucas Glover’s comments regarding LIV Golfers potential return to the PGA Tour

Lucas Glover made it pretty clear that he has no interest in playing with LIV Golfers again on the PGA Tour. While this statement ignited mixed reactions among social media users, Tiger Woods’ ex-coach dropped a unique reaction to it.

While reacting to this statement from Glover, Woods’ ex-coach Hank Haney dropped a subtle 16-word reaction. The veteran coach simply asked why the golfer should feel any other way.

Of course he feels that way, why in the world would he feel any other way

Speaking of Woods, the 15-time major champion has been involved in merger talks. Earlier this year, along with Jay Monahan and Adam Scott, the former World No.1 made a trip to the White House to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The trio would ask for his help regarding this merger deal. Since then, there have been some negotiations between the two bodies. However, nothing concrete has come up, and the talks have been stalled in the past few months. Only time will tell when and if the merger will eventually go through or not.
