Lucas Vasquez en route to receive new Madrid contract

Real Madrid academy product Lucas Vasquez is set to receive a contract extension this season. Manager Zinedine Zidane has said that Vasquez will be staying at Madrid after his contract expires at the end of this season.

Lucas Vasquez has made a few starts in the season mostly being deployed in the right back position in the absence of Dani Carvajal. However his natural position lies much further up the pitch.

Real Madrid defeated Inter Milan 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League as Eden Hazard and Rodrigo scored. Vasquez set up the second goal for Madrid as his cross was deflected off Achraf Hakimi of Milan.

Moreover Lucas Vasquez’s versatility makes him a valuable asset to the squad. He played the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 win and was impressive in the forward line.

“Now he is having the opportunity to show us what he is all about. He was a youth player for us and has Madrid in his heart. I’m happy for him and the team.

“He is an important player and the club knows it. I think it will happen that he will renew.”
