This week on SmackDown, an exuberant LA Knight held an invitational US title open challenge. Much to his surprise, but to an utter delight for the fans in Berlin, home favorite Ludwig Kaiser answered the call. The German wrestler, who’s technically a Raw Superstar, showed up on the blue brand. But who cares if that was meant to put a local hero on the card?

And boy, did he serve justice for being put in that spot? Sure, he did. The 34-year-old gave LA Knight a run for his money and, most importantly, turned the crowd against The Megastar—something the latter isn’t accustomed to. The rabid Germans in attendance rallied for Kaiser. However, the champ once again donning a never-say-die attitude pulled himself over the finish line.

A BFT for the good ensured a hard-fought victory for Knight. Nonetheless, it was a great showing by Ludwig Kaiser too in front of his countrymen. For the champ? He’s off to a dream start in his first-ever title reign on the main roster. Last week in DC, the nation’s capital of the USA, the 41-year-old reigned supreme to open his account against Santos Escobar. Though the match went deeper than Knight would’ve hoped for, he got the job done, no ifs and buts.

And now, with two-in-two for him, LA can catch a break. He’s just one title defense shy of what Logan Paul did in his 272-day period. The Maverick was only checked three times—something that the fans were really peeved at. Nonetheless, Knight ousted Paul at this year’s SummerSlam to put an end to the social media megastar’s stranglehold on the gold. Even rapper MGK couldn’t save the day for his buddy, Logan.

What’s next for LA Knight after impressive win over Ludwig Kaiser?

Following his latest coup, LA Knight will leave Berlin with his head held high. He came overseas in pursuit of a viable challenger who could oppose him. Knight got one in Ludwig Kaiser, but the latter didn’t cause an upset.

Having said that, it’s time for The Megastar to head back to the US, considering he doesn’t have a role at tomorrow’s Bash in Berlin PLE. With gold around his waist, there’s always someone lurking in the bushes. But who could be the next roadblock in The Defiant One’s journey?

A name that immediately pops into mind is Giovanni Vinci. He’s been announced to be debuting on SmackDown next week. The Italian would be looking to brush aside his brusque expulsion from The Imperium to carve out a path of his own. And what if he confronts LA Knight to make a statement of all sorts?
