In a huge blow for Atletico Madrid, Luis Suarez has tested positive for Corona. The player along with goalie Rodrigo and backroom staff Matias tested positive while on international duty with Uruguay. Moreover, Suarez has returned back to his best at Atletico Madrid after moving from Barcelona this year. The player has already got five goals in La Liga for Atletico and has also helped Felix get back to his brilliant best. Hence, both the club and country will miss him with crucial fixtures incoming.

Suarez set to miss crucial set of fixtures

Uruguay National Team put out a statement saying, “The Uruguayan Football Association reports that swabs have been carried out on all the members of the senior team, resulting in the players Luis Suarez, Rodrigo Munoz and the official Matias Faral having tested positive for Covid-19, while all other tests are negative. The three members mentioned are in good health and the corresponding measures have already been implemented.”

However, Suarez is set to miss some big games for Uruguay and Atletico Madrid. Firstly, Uruguay face Brazil in a World Cup Qualifier tomorrow and this is probably the worst time to lose Suarez for them. Moreover, after the international break, Atletico will be facing a massive fixture against Barcelona with huge implication for the title race in La Liga. Suarez will no doubt be angry that he won’t get the chance to face his former club and score against them.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have one of the best coaches in the world in Diego Simeone. So they will hope that he can find a way to beat Barcelona without one of his best players.
