Over the last few days, Luka Doncic has been all over the headlines amongst the NBA community. From his contract extension news with the Lakers to his stunning transformation, going from overweight to muscular, Doncic has been highly active this offseason. That said, this also led to rumours regarding Doncic using Ozempic to transform himself during the off-season.

To add to this, the Lakers’ star was recently questioned about the Ozempic rumours in an interview with the Today Show. Doncic is not someone who will shy away from speaking about matters that concern or involve him. He did the same this time around, claiming that he did not use Ozempic and was on a strict diet with proper routines with his trainers throughout the off-season.

No, nothing!

When questioned about taking Ozempic on the Today Show, Luka Doncic said

Doncic revealed the minute details of how he went from being overweight to lean in an interview with Men’s Health magazine. He spoke about how much work he has actually put in behind the scenes to get to the shape that he is in right now.

Doncic and his group have completely redesigned their training schedule. In addition to intensifying their workouts, Luka has made dietary adjustments. He has continued to follow a low-sugar, gluten-free diet that consists of one shake made with almond milk and at least 250 grams of protein each day.

When many thought Doncic was in bad form, he was already ranked in the top five. For the rest of the NBA, the idea that he could still become a better player is frightening, but the Lakers want it to happen. The Slovenian is raring to go ahead of the new season, but before that, he will participate in the EuroHoops basketball 2025 competition with his nation.

Luka Doncic talked about his contract extension

For months, there was speculation about Luka Doncic’s contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. Some reports claim that Doncic was interested in other NBA teams, while some claim that Doncic was taking time to make a decision regarding his future with the Lakers. That said, the Slovenian opened up on this matter in his interview on The Today Show.

Big decision on Saturday… whether you sign that big contract extension [with the Lakers]. Any message for fans?

The host initially questioned Luka Doncic

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I can’t discuss anything yet.

Luka Doncic’s response:

Per reports, the Lakers’ star is edging closer to signing a $222million 4-year contract extension with the Lakers. With this, the Lakers tie down their main star for the near future and are building their roster around the Slovenian.

Their most recent additions in Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart are clear signals of the Lakers building their team around Doncic. The likes of Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Austin Reaves, and other top stars under the coaching of JJ Redick will surely have a point to prove to the fans after their early playoff exit last season.

Luka Doncic had an honest take on his pre-weight loss physique

Over the last few years, Doncic has been a victim of immense criticism and negativity because of being overweight and out of shape for his respective NBA teams. However, Doncic, in addition, had a different take regarding his overweight physique during his appearance on the Today Show. He claimed that he was still a good player back then, with top stats all around, carrying all the weight.

Obviously, I try to not read much, just try to focus. I think I was still a pretty good basketball player back then, no matter what people say.”
