WATCH: “You can’t f**king guard me!” – ‘Pumped up’ Luka Doncic goes off on Rudy Gobert after drilling a clutch game-winner against Timberwolves

Luka Doncic lets out a rant against Rudy Gobert after scoring the game-winning 3-point shot in the Western Conference Finals Game 2

Compared to Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, the Dallas Mavericks knew that Game 2 would be tougher. The Minnesota Timberwolves would gain some much-needed rest, which would allow them to return back to their usual standards. They tried, until the last few seconds when Luka Doncic made a clutch 3-point shot and sent some choice words at Rudy Gobert.

Once Doncic received the ball with 12 seconds to go, he knew it was a do-or-die situation. He brought out his dribbling skills to shake Rudy Gobert off his defensive position, took a step back and launched a 3-point shot. As soon as the ball went it, he was seen shouting at the Frenchman.

You can't f**king guard me!
Luka Doncic said

Basically, saying it in words what he tried to say with his handles as Gobert was skating around trying to get a hold of Doncic. The shot ended the game and gave the Mavericks a crucial 2-0 lead in the series.

His rant at Gobert was also suggesting something about his confidence. That he might miss his previous few attempts, but when it matters, he cannot be stopped. It was evident that a minute was left in regulation when the Timberwolves were up by two. The Mavericks had possession after possession when they could not convert a shot.

But at the end, all ends that ends well. Luka Doncic showed that a 4-time Defensive Player of the Year is not enough to slow him down when it matters. All that matters is in clutch time.

Luka Doncic’s heroics help the Dallas Mavericks go home with 2-0 lead

The Minnesota Timberwolves were on cloud nine beating the defending champions Denver Nuggets in seven games to move to their first Western Conference Finals in 20 years. However, Game 1 showed that fatigue from playing seven games cost them dearly. But today’s game should have been a much better fight.

Instead, the Dallas Mavericks have bumped them off their high spirits and go back home with a crucial 2-0 series lead. The next two games at Dallas will be their best chance at winning a trip to the NBA Finals for the first time in 13 years. Even if they were to lose one of the two games at home, the Mavericks will still be able to pile on the pressure on the younger Timberwolves and end up winning the playoff series.

Game 3 in Dallas is on Sunday. With the way the West Finals are going, expect that game to be a dogfight to the end.
