Luka Doncic might be James best ally as per ESPN's Alan Hahn

In Saturday’s matchup between two new nemeses in the West, the Lakers came out on top. The Lakers’ latest addition, Luka Doncic, was crucial in clinching that victory over the Denver Nuggets. He added 32 points to the scorecard, his highest so far as a Laker. This game marked the return of “Luka Magic,” as he is beginning to feel more like himself with every upcoming game.

The offensive potency of the Slovenian certainly takes the weight off LeBron James, who recently turned 40. Even King James concurred, stating that he is more of a wide receiver, while number 77 is their quarterback. Reiterating the same sentiment on Get Up, ESPN’s Alan Hahn argued that Luka is the best fit beside James so far. Here’s what the analyst and radio host had to say about the harmonization of the talents of the veteran and the former MVP:

You can argue that Luka might be the better fit with LeBron than anybody he has ever played with, including Dwyane Wade. Wade didn’t have the perimeter game that Luka has. They were both clutch… but the passing ability that Luka brings could unlock a little more of LeBron even at this age.

This was certainly evident in Saturday’s matchup, where Luka’s playmaking abilities truly shone. Besides ending the night with a game-high 32 points, his seven assists helped three other starters score over 20 points. On top of that, he also added four steals, contributing to the Nuggets’ 20 turnovers.

Even the Nuggets’ head coach agreed that they got “out played” and “out coached”. While their leader, Nikola Jokic, had an introspective hat on, as he wondered if they are any good since their 9-game streak was against low-tier teams or teams ridden with injuries.

Kyrie Irving claims that ‘narrative’s already written’ ahead of matchup against Luka Doncic and LeBron James

Since Luka Doncic became a Laker, the most anticipated matchup has been the first meeting between him and his former squad, the Dallas Mavericks. When Mavs’ Kyrie Irving was asked to comment on their upcoming matchup against his beloved “Hermano” after the loss in Golden State, here’s what Uncle Drew said fans can expect:

High-level basketball game, a lot of good players on the floor at once, Outside of just the obvious of us being in LA, being a former team of Luka’s, obviously the narrative is already written. I don’t know what else I can really add to that. I’m pretty much focused, telling my guys to focus on the high level game that we gotta win.

What Kyrie was referring to here was the “narrative” among media and fans about a player facing off against his former team, which traded him away. While this may be true, the relationships are certainly nuanced behind the scenes. With injuries becoming a roadblock to the Mavericks’ path to the playoffs, expect the Lakers to ride their momentum at home and add another W to the win column.
