Mackenzie Dern returns in action against Tecia Torres after suffering a lopsided loss against Maria Rodriguez. Meanwhile, Torres is on a three-fight win streak and is gunning to be a contender in the division. Torres’s last loss was also to Rodriguez.

Dern was on her way to the title shot before she lost to Rodriguez. Dern had won four fights in a row prior to that loss. Dern is motivated to become the mom champ and has never looked better inside the octagon after the birth of her baby. It would be interesting to see how much Dern has evolved from her last fight where she looked pretty ordinary on her feet.

Mackenzie Dern is looking to make a statement against Tecia Torres

Torres has always been in the top 15 in UFC Strawweight Division. She has an up-and-down career. She has been the gatekeeper of the SW division but this looks to be her best run in the UFC. She has won three straight since losing her last fight to Marina Rodriguez. Tecia has a chance to be in contender conversation if she beats Mackenzie Dern on April 9.

This fight is the best fight these both can get right now. Dern will look to regain her confidence by getting a win on her record after a unanimous decision loss to Rodriguez where we saw her get outmatched on the feet. Torres has majorly used her wrestling to stay on her feet and try to outpace her opponents. It would be interesting to see if Dern is able to take the fight to the ground or not.

Torres would like to get the fourth straight win which would rank her in the top 5 and would be the best winning streak for her career. At 32 years of age, this could be the last chance for Torres to push for the title fight.
