OJ Simpson was one of the greatest running backs to ever play the game of football. Entering the NFL as a Heisman Trophy winner, Simpson’s play led to him being named the MVP of the 1973 season and an eventual Hall of Fame gold jacket. A feat only few running backs have accomplished.
OJ Simpson and his creepy NBA connection
The accusations and running in with the law had brought Simpson a different kind of fame. Something which has been used extensively in analogies across the sports and entertainment universe.
Despite being a legend in the NFL, the former athlete has had his small bits of association with the NBA. Most notably was when he was being chased by the police on the highways of Los Angeles. At the same time, Game 5 of the 1994 NBA Finals was taking place with basketball legends, Hakeem Olajuwan and Patrick Ewing vying for their first title.
That day, Simpson’s chase managed to drop 30% of the viewers from watching the Finals. Since his infamous acquittal, Simpson has followed the NBA and was even part of a discussion regarding the current big men in the league.
