Women’s wrestling has come a long way over the past two decades. Two decades ago, WWE treated women as eye candy, giving them little screen time or meaningful feuds. However, the women’s revolution in the mid-2010s radically transformed the landscape of female wrestling. Now, the promotion appears to be on its way to introduce new women’s championships on the main roster to give a further boost to the division.

Bianca Belair recently appeared on the Battleground podcast, where she expressed her desire to see a secondary/mid-card title on the WWE main roster. PWNexus responded to Belair regarding this statement, claiming that the EST need not worry as something similar was already in the works.

WWE CCO Triple H has also done a great job with the booking of the women’s division. However, only the established superstars are part of singles feuds for the women’s world titles on both brands. Female superstars with lesser star power are either forced into tag teams or struggle for screen time.

It appears that WWE used its developmental brand as a prototype to test out the possibility of a women’s mid-card title on the main roster. The promotion introduced the NXT Women’s North American Championship, and Kelani Jordan was crowned as the inaugural champion at NXT Battleground. Since winning the title, she has put on incredible matches against Sol Ruca, Tatum Paxley, and others.

WWE introduced the Women’s Tag titles in 2019 to add more variety to the division. However, they have not been a huge success in the previous five years. The titles were even considered cursed at one point due to the injuries surrounding the women’s tag division. Furthermore, WWE rarely features these titles on PLEs unless held by huge names like Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

Bianca Belair, Raquel Rodriguez, and other huge female superstars advocate for a mid-card women’s championship on WWE main roster

As mentioned previously, Bianca Belair is an advocate for the mid-card women’s championship. She believes that the current women’s roster is incredibly stacked. Everybody is already trying to fight to get a spot on the card. She felt that adding another title would highlight the true talent of their division.

Similarly, Raquel Rodriguez has been a huge advocate for such titles for more than two years now. She believes that adding an Intercontinental Championship for the females would be a huge leap for the division. Furthermore, Ash By Elegance (formerly Dana Brooke) also wanted to turn the 24/7 title into a women’s Intercontinental title to give the women in the company something to strive for.
