Shawn Michaels breaks silence after WWE crowns new champion at NXT Battleground

The NXT Battleground PLE at the UFC Apex Arena had many great moments, but being crowned the first-ever Women’s NXT North American Champion was extra special. Kelani Jordan won the 6-woman ladder match for the title, and NXT Senior Vice President, Shawn Michaels took the opportunity to congratulate her on social media.

The Heartbreak Kid took to X and congratulated Kelani Jordan for making history at NXT Battleground. She became the first-ever superstar to hold the new title and Shawn Michaels stated that she had earned her moments before wishing her luck for many more special moments. This was the first WWE event in that arena, thanks to the recent merger of WWE and UFC under TKO Group Holdings. 

In a thrilling match, Jordan seized the chance and became the champion amid breathtaking maneuvers and crashing ladders. This wasn’t easy for her, however, as other participants, Sol Ruca, Michin, Jaida Parker, Lash Legend, and Fallon Henly, all tried to climb up the ladder and grab the title. It was a significant moment as it marked the first championship title of her career in NXT.

Not only did the Hall of Famer congratulate her, but SmackDown star Carmelo Hayes, her boyfriend, also celebrated her victory with a heartfelt message on social media. This marked a significant step towards revolutionizing the women’s division under the black and gold brand. Without a doubt, the new title will compel the female superstars on NXT to put in extra effort to win the championship.

It looks like Kelani Jordan was on cloud nine after making history at the NXT Battleground. The excitement was visible on her face in a backstage interview. She expressed her feelings after the first major title win of her career during the conversation with Sarah Schreiber.

While speaking in a digital exclusive, the 25-year-old star shared what the match meant to her. In fact, Jordan stated that although she was the one who walked out with the title, it was indeed a special match for all the female stars who participated. She said that it felt good to be a champion and revealed her celebration plans with the host of the event, Sexy Redd.

Honestly, I’m speechless. I’m still shaking because I know when I was grabbing the title, how much this match means to every single one of us girls who were in that match. I may be the one walking away with the title, but we all made history tonight. So honestly, I don’t really have words to express it. I’m in awe. I can’t believe it. I’m still shaking, I’m on cloud nine. But it feels good to be a champion.

The new champion then had a motivational message for everyone, saying they could do it if they believed. Jordan stated that she followed the same message: working silently and letting her success make the noise. Many fans are eager to see how her title reign unfolds, as several women are already eyeing the belt.
