Major update on WWE’s plans for Gunther vs. Goldberg following their heated segment at Bad Blood
After what transpired between Gunther and Goldberg at last Saturday's Bad Blood PLE, fans believe they're in for a match.

One of the hottest stories coming out of WWE Bad Blood was the segment where Gunther dissed Goldberg. The Ring General told the latter’s son Gage that he hoped Bill was a better father to him than he’s as a professional wrestler. Incensed at the insult, the WWE Hall of Famer jumped the barricade to confront the World Heavyweight Champion. However, security chimed in.
It seemed like that was an obvious angle to plant the seeds for an eventual Gunther vs. Goldberg match. However, as per Dave Meltzer on his Wrestling Observer Daily, WWE has not lined that up for at least this year’s Survivor Series, nor at WrestleMania. It wouldn’t happen at next month’s Crown Jewel PLE either, as Gunther will be teeing off with Cody Rhodes for the Crown Jewel Championship that Triple H unveiled at Bad Blood.
However, the WWE CCO didn’t rule out the possibility of Goldberg having one more match. The former WCW Champion doesn’t share the best of relations with Triple H, but they seem fine, especially after Hunter raised Bill’s hand at Bad Blood. Before Gunther was blindsided by Sami Zayn, he was really unloading on the 57-year-old icon.
He outright refuted his previous claim that he made in front of Bret Hart citing Goldberg as his favorite wrestler growing up. The Austrian said he lied to Bret because why a wrestler of his caliber will be impressed by a one-trick pony like Da Man?
At this point, there’s no word on if they’ll have a match or not. Bill Goldberg last competed inside a WWE ring at the Elimination Chamber in 2022, where he lost to Roman Reigns.
How does Gunther’s foreseeable WWE future look like?
This week on Raw, Gunther successfully defended his world title against Sami Zayn. It certainly was a test for The Ring General to oust the man who’s been the only superstar to pin the Austrian since his main roster call-up. Next up, he’d likely have CM Punk vying for his gold at Survivor Series: WarGames.
In what could be his biggest WWE match till date, Gunther is penned in for a marquee match against John Cena when the latter embarks on his retirement tour. However, it can’t be stated with conviction whether that showdown will have the world heavyweight title involved or not.
Last Monday on Raw, the erstwhile Walter came face-to-face with Bron Breakker. They could also make a case for an epic bout in the future, as Bron was the one who beat Gunther fair and square on NXT before the latter was promoted to the main roster.
