Earlier this year, WWE signed a $5 billion deal with Netflix for the rights to broadcast Raw. Starting January 6th, 2025, all episodes of the Red brand will premiere exclusively on Netflix. While this news already had fans in a fever pitch, the latest reports have taken this level of excitement to a whole new level.

According to Fightful, the first Raw to be broadcast in Raw will be one of the biggest episodes in the show’s history. Reportedly, the show will not be less than a WWE PLE in terms of quality. The promotion is looking to create a lot of buzz and hype for the episode. Other reports have also stated that WWE is planning to host the show in the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

WWE is looking to create a lot of hype and buzz for the event. Thus, some of the biggest names in WWE, including The Rock, are expected to make an appearance on the episode. Furthermore, the promotion may also put on several dream matches on the episode. It would not be surprising to see legends of the past make an appearance to hype up the event, either.

There are several other reasons why fans are so excited about this change. Firstly, the show will allegedly have a flexible run time each week. The promotion will no longer be forced to stretch out or shorten the show’s content to three hours. Triple H had also revealed that Netflix will not censor any crowd chants like The USA Network currently does. The audio for the show gets completely muted for a few seconds during NSFW chants, which severely ruins the viewing experience for those at home.

WWE broadcasts the first two-hour episode of Raw in 12 years.

The latest episode of Raw for the first time in 12 years that the red brand broadcasted a two-hour show. WWE shifted to a three-hour episode for the show back in 2012 and has not looked back since. The show is entering its final few months on the USA Network, which does not seem to be interested in giving the show a lot of runtime anymore.

The time crunch was immediately noticeable while watching the latest episode of the Red brand. This week, the show featured only four matches throughout its entire run time. The matches also felt shorter than usual. Furthermore, the promotion had to fit ten women into the same match to give each of them screen time.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone had also expressed concerns about the third hour of the show being dropped. She said that this would result in a lesser representation of WWE talent, especially women. After looking at the latest episode of Raw, her predictions seemed to have come true.
