Manchester United continued their progressive run in Europa League with a 2-1 victory over LASK at their home stadium. Second half Goals from Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial helped United clinch a win over the visiting side. Manchester United will now face Copenhagen in a single-leg quarter-final in Germany. The Europa League is using a neutral venue system.Which helps in creating a common battle ground for both the sides.

Manchester United won the Europa League in 2016-2017 campaign in a final against AJAX.

Although LASK took the lead in the 55th minute through Philip Wiesinger. Wiesinger caressed the ball into the top corner from a corner assist from P.Michorl. Jesse Lingard scored just two minutes later with a cool finish. He found the bottom left corner from a well worked fast counter attack. Then Manchester United took the lead in 88th minute through Anthony Martial. The French player had just come on as a late substitute. Martial scored through a straight shot after a string of silky smooth passes in LASK’s penalty area from United.

Manchester united will now face FC Copenhagen in Cologne next Monday. Copenhagen defeated Istanbul Basaksiher 3-0 at their home ground in Denmark. The Danish team cancelled Istanbul Basaksiher’s 1-0 lead from the first leg that took place in March.

Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United already had one leg in the quarter-finals as they defeated LASK 5-0 in March. Manchester United rested many first team players in order to avoid injury. A lot of players from the youth setup were given a chance in today’s match. Now Manchester will try to obtain a similar result against FC Copenhagen next week.
