Marc Guehi signs a five-year deal with Crystal Palace

Marc Guehi has signed a five-year contract with Crystal Palace after moving from Chelsea for £18 million. Guehi is Patrick Vieira’s third acquisition at Selhurst Park since the latter took over as manager.

Chelsea has agreed to pay potential sell-on incentives and to match any future offers for the player.

Guehi has been a long-term target for Palace, and following Vieira’s arrival, he gave the go-ahead to complete the deal. He joins the club after the free transfers of midfielder Michael Olise and goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

Guehi was a product of Chelsea’s academy and had a contract with the club until 2023. Last season, he was on loan to Swansea City, where he made 40 appearances throughout the regular Championship season before losing in the play-off final to Brentford.

Guehi made the playoffs in both seasons with Swansea, but he was unable to gain promotion to the first level.

The youngster has served England at all levels, from Under-16 to Under-21, and was instrumental in their Under-17 World Cup triumph in 2017.

Crystal Palace’s chairman Steve Parish expressed his joy after acquiring the youngster, stating that Guehi will be a great addition to the side and his talent will be beneficial for Crystal Palace.

“We are delighted to have signed Marc for Crystal Palace. He’s an exciting talent and one we believe will be a valuable addition to the squad as we build towards the coming season,” said Steve Parish.
