Former Swiss tennis player Marc Rosset has claimed that Carlos Alcaraz can dominate the men’s tour like no one else in the history of the sport, He has also stated that the Spaniard has the potential to win as many as 30 Grand Slam titles if there are “no big rivals”.
Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic comprehensively in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships final to clinch his fourth Grand Slam title. Rosset believes that the 21-year-old has no real competition on the ATP tour besides Jannik Sinner.
The 53-year-old is also of the belief that Alcaraz and Sinner could dominate the men’s circuit during their careers.
For him to reach 30 Grand Slams, that would mean almost three titles per season for nine to ten years, without injury, without the arrival of very big rivals. Alcaraz is today the only one who really does lots of different things, and I tell myself that he and Sinner could have a boulevard ahead of them.Marc Rosset said via L’Equipe
Sinner won the Australian Open this year while Alcaraz has clinched the French Open and Wimbledon titles.
Can Carlos Alcaraz really win 30 Grand Slam titles?
While there is no doubt that Carlos Alcaraz will win quite a few Grand Slam titles, winning 30 of them still seems like a big ask. He has great potential and has already clinched four Grand Slam titles. One of Alcaraz’s best qualities is that he adapts quickly to any surface. He has already won a Major on all three surfaces.
The Spaniard hopes to reach the levels of the Big Three – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, all of whom have won 20 or more Grand Slam titles. However, it is easier said than done and there is a long road ahead for Alcaraz.
With the current scheduling, players are prone to injury a lot more. Alcaraz has faced problems keeping up with the schedule and has also dealt with a few injuries already. Even if he manages to not get sidelined with a major injury, he still faces a big threat from his rivals. Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev are two players who are consistently challenging Alcaraz right now, with the likes of Holger Rune and Ben Shelton slowly picking pace.
