Former ATP Pro Reveals Who He Thinks Between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Will Finish with More Grand Slam Titles
Carlos Alcaraz holds a 10-6 head-to-head lead over arch-rival Jannik Sinner, defeating him in four events this year.

Since 2024, many players on the tour have been focusing on how they can break the dominance of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. The World No.1 and the World No.2 have won a total of 26 titles from 35 finals since 2024, and those titles also include the last 8 Grand Slam ones.
This year, while Sinner clinched six trophies from 10 finals, the Spaniard finished the season with the most titles on the tour, winning eight from 11 championship clashes. At present, Alcaraz and Sinner have eight and six Grand Slam titles to their names, respectively.
Who between them will end up with more Majors? According to former player Marcos Baghdatis, Alcaraz will win more because he has a variety in his game.
Very tough question. I would go with Alcaraz because he has more variety to his game, I can say. But he’s mentally maybe less consistent than Sinner, so it can backfire. But yeah, I would go with Alcaraz.

Sinner trails 6-10 in the head-to-head matchups with the 22-year-old. This year, the arch-rivals clashed six times, with the Italian emerging victorious on two occasions – he first denied the three-peat to Alcaraz at Wimbledon, following which, he defended his crown at the ATP Finals.
Alcaraz denied him the win in the finals of the Italian Open, French Open, Cincinnati Masters, and the US Open. Sinner and Alcaraz won three and five Big Titles, respectively, this year.
Marcos Baghdatis on who will challenge the dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
The last player to win a Grand Slam title other than Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz is Novak Djokovic, who won the 2023 US Open by defeating Daniil Medvedev. Since 2024, he reached a Major final at the 2024 Wimbledon, losing that match to Alcaraz in straight sets.

Djokovic reached the semifinals of all four Majors. Injury forced him to give the walkover to Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open, while Sinner beat him at the French Open and Wimbledon. Alcaraz knocked him out at the US Open. Djokovic has reached the twilight of his career, and it’s becoming difficult for him to challenge Sinner and Alcaraz.
Many think Joao Fonseca in the next few years will break the Alcaraz-Sinner dominance. Marcos Baghdatis is also of the same opinion, but he also thinks three-time Grand Slam finalist Zverev has the ability to challenge Alcaraz and Sinner in Grand Slam events.
Maybe Fonseca, I would say. That’s one of them who could, and I think will. But other than Fonseca, especially in a Grand Slam in a five-setter, I don’t see [who can stop Alcaraz and Sinner]… Yeah, maybe Zverev can win here and there, one or two. But it’s gonna be tough.
Marcos Baghdatis told Tennis365
Fonseca, after winning the 2024 Next-Gen ATP Finals by defeating Learner Tien, lifted his career’s first tour-level title at the Argentina Open by going past home favorite Francisco Cerundolo. He then doubled his title tally by defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final of the Swiss Indoors.
In Grand Slam events, Fonseca made his main draw debut at the Australian Open and ended up playing the main draw matches of the remaining three Majors. He reached the second round of the Australian Open and the US Open, while at the French Open and Wimbledon, his run ended in the third round.
Fonseca has never met Alcaraz or Sinner in official events. With Alcaraz, the 19-year-old locked horns in the Miami exhibition event, the result of which ended in the Murcia-native’s favor.
