“Roger is sharp and fast, Djokovic and Nadal are intense opponents who create massive pressure,” Marin Cilic on the Big Three of tennis
Marin Cilic is currently competing at the Singapore Tennis Open. Talking to the reporters there, he got into a discussion on the Big Three of Tennis. Talking about Roger Federer, Marin Cilic said that he was a little different in his approach than the other two in the Big Three.
According to Cilic, Federer relies a lot on change of pace. Federer goes from fast serves and fast returns to suddenly playing the drop shots. Cilic also praised the fast movement of Federer on the court. Especially his approach to the court. Federer is of course known for his serve and volley game, because of which he has eight Wimbledon wins.
“Not saying that Roger Federer isn’t (intense), but Roger is more focused on change of pace, change of speed,” Cilic said. “He’s having to rely a lot of his game – on a fast game, great serve, great forehand, you know, just mixing up the game and playing aggressive tennis and also playing fast,” he continued.
The intensity of Rafa and Djokovic
Marin Cilic thinks Rafa and Novak are similar to the way they create pressure. Rafa and Novak are known to keep putting pressure on the opponents, stifling them to the point of no return. Cilic also believes that in a Grand Slam match players playing against Rafa and Novak Should be ready to maintain their level of play for at least four to five hours.
“And Novak and Rafa are the best guys in tennis that create pressure,” Cilic remarked.”. He continued, “ if when you’re playing Grand Slam matches against them, you need to be there for hours, five hours to be able to match them up.”
