Mark Henry has accomplished everything in his wrestling career and is considered a legend whether he is in WWE or AEW. There was a time when he decided to leave the Stamford-based company and join its rival. The World’s Strongest Man revealed the conversation he had with Vince McMahon before leaving WWE.

In an interview with Forbes, Mark Henry stated that he wanted Vince McMahon and WWE to hire him in a non-wrestling role. However, the former chairman denied his request, as many people had asked for that position, and he didn’t want to show favoritism. Henry expressed his frustration and gave Vince a piece of his mind, but in the end, he left and joined the Jacksonville-based company.

I had a conversation with Vince [McMahon] and I wanted WWE to hire me, and he said that we have people that have applied for the jobs that you are applying for, and he felt like it would show favoritism to give me one of those jobs. And I hadn't put the work in to receive one of those jobs, so I had to leave to get that experience. And I told him, I was like, "You know, I'm going to kick your ass."

After spending the majority of his wrestling career in WWE, Henry jumped ship and joined AEW to gain experience in a new role, where he trained young wrestlers just as he mentored stars like Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. The WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he loved teaching psychology and directing people on how to deal with the office in his new job. Unfortunately, he left AEW after his contract expired a couple of months ago.

On the other hand, Mark Henry’s former boss, Vince McMahon, is currently dealing with his fair share of legal troubles. He is facing a lawsuit for se*ual assault, but as of now, it has been put on hold, and McMahon won’t be tried in court at the moment, thanks to the Department of Justice. However, trouble continues to pile on for Vince as a longtime employee. Tommy Carlucci disclosed that the former chairman was banned from using the WWE headquarters’ gym. Only time will tell how McMahon’s future unfolds.

While speaking with Denise Salcedo, Henry revealed that WWE once wanted him to adopt a silverback gimmick. After hearing the offensive and racist idea, the Hall of Famer immediately rejected it, saying that many black kids looked up to him. All he wanted to do was set the right example for all of them.

There was really nothing I did that I didn’t want to do except when they wanted to do the ‘silverback’ thing. I’m a Black man in America, I got little Black kids all over the world looking up to me. The last thing I need to do is call myself a f***ing primate.

He talked about how his mother taught him discipline and to love everybody, regardless of their skin color. Henry stated that his mom would welcome everyone into her home and was strictly against racism. Fans respected the Hall of Famer for rejecting that gimmick, and he will always be considered a legend in their eyes.
