Mark Madsen defeats Clay Guida at UFC Vegas 34
The lightweight contest between UFC veteran Clay Guida (36-20 MMA, 16-14 UFC) and two times Olympic medalist Mark Madsen (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) was a much-anticipated fight for the night. Mark Madsen was undefeated in his professional career, and Guida was doing this since 2006 and the clash between them went just as advertised.
Round 1- Guida started the fight with a leg kick, and Madsen stayed patient to look for the opportunity to engage in a wrestling exchange. He caught Guida in a Muay Thai guard and he landed some good shots in there, Guida was moving well trying to avoid these transitions and he was successful in doing that. Madsen was loading on his punches and Guida was finding his shots in there.
Round 2- Madsen started the round by hitting a right hand and Guida returned the favor with a calf kick. Madsen stayed on his feet and trying to stand and bang with Guida. Gudia stayed outside and landing some nice right hands. One more jab landed from Guida, Madsen only attempted one takedown and he isn’t using his wrestling at all. Guida on the other hand stayed outside and landed some more shots right on Madsen’s face.

Round 3- Madsen’s corner advised him to use wrestling in this round and he still looks for landing significant strikes at the starting one minute of the round. He finally landed a one-two combination and Guida again landed a calf kick, Madsen swung a right hand but missed. Guida landed one more calf kick and did a good job of staying out of Madsen’s range. Great end to the co-main event of UFC Vegas 34.
