Recently, comedian Lou Perez called out Martina Navratilova for supporting the Democrats. The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion has always condemned the Republicans because of their policies.

Perez said Navratilova is supporting the Democrats in spite of knowing their stance on trans athletes’ involvement in women’s sports. Navartilova made it clear that, except for the transgender issue, she follows Democrats’ views on other issues instead of US President Donald Trump and other Republicans.

I agree with the Dems on just about every single issue but one- while I strongly disagree with Trump and his sycophants on every single issue but one. Ok?!?

Navratilova thinks trans athletes’ participation in women’s sports is not fair because the former have biological advantages. She also criticized boxer Imane Khelif heavily when the latter clinched the gold medal in the Paris Olympics, arguing that the American is a biological male.

Navratilova holds the record for most titles on the women’s tour in the Open Era (167). She turned pro in 1974 and hung up her racket in 2006 after lifting 18 Grand Slam singles, 31 doubles, and 10 mixed doubles titles.

Iga Swiatek matches Martina Navratilova stat after the 2025 season

Iga Swiatek ended the season with four titles. After a slow start to the season, Swiatek reached her first final, to everyone’s surprise, at the Bad Homburg Open. Though she suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of Jessica Pegula, she was invincible in the Wimbledon final as she double-bageled Amanda Anisimova to break her title drought and win her sixth Grand Slam title.

The next title she clinched was at the Cincinnati Open against Jasmine Paolini. It was her first WTA 1000 title since the 2024 Italian Open.

Then, during the Asian swing, the six-time Grand Slam champion fulfilled a family dream by clinching the Korea Open by defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova. Swiatek’s singles season ended at the WTA Finals, where she failed to progress to the semifinals after defeats to Anisimova and eventual champion Elena Rybakina in the round robin stage.

Swiatek also helped Poland qualify for the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers. The Pole ended the season with 64 wins and 17 defeats.

This season, the 24-year-old has recorded the most match wins of any woman for four consecutive years, becoming the fourth woman to do so. Before Swiatek, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, and Chris Evert achieved it.
