American tennis legend Martina Navratilova looks massively impressed with Iga Swiatek‘s game on clay courts as the Polish ace wins the title in Rome. As Swiatek beat Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets of 6-2, 6-3, Navratilova heaped massive praise on the 22-year-old. She gave her flowers to Swiatek for her topspin game and her movement on the court.

Navratilova also compared the Polish ace’s game to Chris Evert-like. The former American tennis ace claims that Swiatek has perfected her clay-court game as she is able to move across the court with ease and also recover in time for the next shot.

No, not really. She’s been Chris Evert-like. That topspin drives you nuts, and I think she moves as good as anybody. Clay, she’s got that down to perfection, the sliding and the movement and recovery. Just wears you out from the baseline, playing aggressive. She’s got the consistency and the major wins. That’s why she’s been No.1 for so long. Paris is the perfect venue for her game.

The 67-year-old also talked about Swiatek’s chances at the 2024 Roland Garros. While Navratilova did not predict that the Polish ace was going to win the title in Paris, she claimed that the venue would perfectly suit Swiatek.

When the Ukrainian ace was asked if Swiatek would be able to win the triple crown- Madrid, Rome, and French Open, she gave an affirmative answer. Svitolina said that Swiatek “live to play on clay” and thus, it would be tough to beat her.

Yeah. She lives to play on clay, obviously, winning multiple times at Roland Garros. It’s a great lineup for her for this year. She’s playing really well, so it’s going to be tough to beat her in these events.

Notably, Swiatek has done two-thirds of the job, having won the titles in Madrid and Rome. The Polish ace is now focused on winning the title in Paris. Swiatek is confident about her chances at the 2024 Roland Garros.

Being the double-defending champion in Paris, Swiatek will fancy her chances to lift the title once again. She will face tough competition from the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina though.
