New York City Mayor Eric Adams of the Democratic Party has been indicted on five criminal charges by a federal grand jury in Manhattan, and Martina Navratilova wasted no time in slamming him on social media. On X, an interview from 2023 resurfaced where Adams was asked to describe New York City.
Adams has been accused of five criminal charges, which also includes a campaign contribution scheme during the Democrat’s 2021 mayoral campaign. A 57-page indictment was unsealed in the morning on Thursday (September 26) after the FBI raided his Gracie Mansion and confiscated his phone.
Last year, during an interview, when Adams was asked about New York City, he said how it’s very complex because one can see almost everything happening in the city, including a plane crash. According to Adams, such incidents make a city the greatest on earth.

Adams, who is also a retired NYPD police captain, has become the first sitting New York City mayor to be charged in a criminal indictment. The indictment also accused Adams of soliciting bribes from foreign businesspeople, including a Turkish government official who wanted to have an influence over the 64-year-old.
Along with that, the bribe charges also include $100,000 worth of luxury international travel. If Adams resigns from his post, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams will succeed him as the next mayor.
